Category News

Walkersons Private Estate is a beautifully maintained, upmarket country estate offering full title ownership to a limited few, with only 114 stands in total, within an 800-hectare Estate, ensuring absolute exclusivity. Located 10 kms from Dullstroom on the R540 towards Lydenburg, the entrance has a security-controlled gatehouse. All the internal roads are all tarred and owners with private aircrafts can land on the Estate airstrip.

The Estate offers its residents an exclusive country lifestyle with access to manicured grounds, mountain hikes through the nature reserve which is stocked with game, trout fishing in 14 dams and the 4kms of river frontage, as well as walks and cycling on a concrete path alongside the River. The Estate is also home to the renowned Five-star Walkersons Hotel and Spa, which offers a wonderful ambiance and five-star meals.

-      There are many kilometers of walking trails along established paths throughout the Estate including 2kms of paved walkways. -      A health and beauty experience at the Spa that includes many treatments and hydrotherapy.

Architecture

A feature of Walkersons’ Estate are the three architectural styles created by the well-known architectural firm Boogertman & Partners. While being entirely appropriate to the countryside environment, “Barnyard”, which as the name suggests is a modern barn look, “Homestead”, which allows for a more farm style architecture or “Verandas” which again puts the focus on the 270-degree verandas skirting the home. Owners may use their own architects to personalize their house within the architectural guidelines. All plans need to be approved by the aesthetics committee.

Homestead Style

A traditional style characterized by 70% stonework, parapet gabling and lean to veranda roofs, supported by metal or timber posts.

Veranda Style

Inspired by the original Transvaal homes known for their deep shaded verandas, 30% stonework and low-slung roofs.

Barnyard Style

It is both rustic and contemporary and features double storey elevations with loft windows, wooden shutters and box shaped bay windows.

Estate Stands

There are 84 “Estate” stands which are much larger and spaced further apart than the “Village” stands. They are anything between 0,45 of a hectare up to 1,59 of a hectare. There is complete flexibility as to which architectural style of home you would like to use.

The Villages

There are three “Villages” - Pastures, Riverview and Stone Village, and each one is themed in one architectural style to create a sense of aesthetic harmony. They vary in size between 751 sqm and 1924 sqm but are an average of about 1200sqm. Each stand in each village has been architecturally placed to maximize views and create fluidity in common areas that interlock together with landscaped gardens in a seamless fashion.

Building

Stand owners are not locked into a building contract and can choose whom they would like to build their home, if it is a qualified and accredited architect.

The “disturbance area” on each stand is limited to a 20 m radius from a peg that has been specifically positioned to minimize the impact generally of each home from their neighbours. This also ensures adjacent stands have the maximum opportunity for uninterrupted views.  This disturbance area allows for a generous footprint of the house and garages etc and equates to approximately 1200 sqm.

 Levies

Monthly levies are approximately R6588.06 per month (April 2025) which can be broken down as follows (all totals including VAT) Monthly levy = R5200.00, Electricity availability charge = R1348,06 and CSOS levy R40.00.
Municipal Rates are charged separately.
